Select the Existing Window Before Trying to Move It
If Ledger Live starts outside the visible Windows screen, bring that existing window into focus instead of launching more instances. The current software name is Ledger Wallet. This is particularly relevant after using a dock, disconnecting a monitor, or changing a remote-desktop arrangement.
An off-screen window still exists somewhere in the desktop layout. A process that has exited, or a visible rectangle with no content, is a different symptom. Establish which one you have before resetting app preferences.
Use the Keyboard to Reach the Interface
Select the wallet through Alt+Tab. Press Alt+Spacebar to open the active window’s system menu where the application provides it, then choose an available positioning action such as Maximize. Microsoft documents the window-menu and switching shortcuts; menu availability can differ by window type.
If multiple monitors are active, Windows+Shift+Left Arrow or Right Arrow moves the focused window between them. A normal Windows snapping action can also provide a visible placement. Confirm which window is active first so you do not move a different application’s dialog.
Use Windows+Tab to inspect other virtual desktops. A wallet open on another desktop is not necessarily off the physical display, but it can look missing from the workspace you are watching. Finding it there changes the diagnosis without touching application files.
Compare the Recognized Displays With the Screens You Can See
Check the normal Windows display settings and identify the active monitors. Suppose a previous arrangement included a screen above the laptop: reopening a remembered window position can leave it outside the laptop’s current view. Bring it back through supported controls rather than moving profile directories.
If an attached monitor is simply asleep or showing a different input, resolve that ordinary display condition. Do not replace graphics drivers or change shared presentation settings merely because one window is misplaced. Keep the comparison limited and note which control restores visibility.
Read the Recovered Window Before Acting
- A normal readable interface supports a placement diagnosis.
- An installer or consent dialog may explain why the session waited.
- A completely blank visible window calls for rendering or content investigation.
- A process that ends before a window can be selected needs launch-failure evidence.
Never approve an unseen transaction or connection prompt through memorized keystrokes. Once the interface is visible, review what is actually being requested. A taskbar thumbnail can help identify the window, but it is not sufficient detail for a financial decision.
Keep the Recovery Result Separate From Maintenance
Close a recovered idle app normally and reopen its intended shortcut to see whether the placement remains usable. If an old launch target is discovered, compare it with the package obtained through Ledger’s official download route. Downloading another file does not prove your shortcut began using it.
Preserve a progressing Ledger OS update even when its host window is hidden. Window positioning does not require disconnecting the signer. If an approved action preceded the disappearance, check its actual chain or provider record before creating another one.
Can a Saved Display Position Explain a White Panel?
A white panel that you can see has already reached a visible position. Identify whether its controls or only remote content failed before applying off-screen recovery advice repeatedly.
What if the Keyboard Shortcut Moves Nothing?
Check focus, available monitors, and the window’s supported menu. That result alone does not establish account corruption or justify deleting local data.
How Should I Describe a Reproducible Placement Fault?
Give the monitor arrangement before and after the change, Windows and app releases, launch target, and the successful positioning control if any. Redact account details in images and keep wallet backups outside the report.
