Capture the Failed Request Before Repairing Anything
When Ledger Live reports unable to get local issuer certificate, preserve the operation and exact wording. The app’s current name is Ledger Wallet. This is a secure-connection trust failure, not a request to restore accounts or prove ownership with a payment.
Note whether it happened during device management, genuine checking, or account addition. Ledger’s issuer-certificate help identifies those contexts. The same visible message can arise through different network and host arrangements, so its timing is more useful than guessing one universal cause.
Understand the Missing Issuer in Context
A client validates a server certificate through a chain leading to an authority it trusts. If it cannot establish the necessary issuer relationship, the secure request fails. A certificate visible in a browser is not automatically the same chain or trust context that the application used.
The OpenSSL verification reference explains chain building and trust anchors. You do not need to install OpenSSL or replace the wallet’s runtime to use the practical distinction: issuer failure differs from an expired certificate or a wrong hostname.
Write down the category exactly. Correcting time may help a date-validity problem, but it does not confer trust on an unknown issuing authority. Likewise, accepting a new root until the error disappears would change the decision without establishing that the authority is legitimate.
Make a Comparison With One Changed Variable
Choose a harmless failing action, such as loading My Ledger. If permitted, repeat it on the same host through another trusted network. Keep the app release and hardware arrangement unchanged. Do not launch firmware maintenance merely to generate a connection test.
Suppose the operation fails on office Ethernet but succeeds through a permitted personal connection. Investigate the office path, including proxy or inspection policy. That comparison does not prove which component caused it, and a second successful route does not authorize bypassing workplace controls.
If the error follows the host across networks, include installed security software, recent system changes, and the precise service involved. Avoid deleting accounts while the evidence still concerns a TLS request.
Resolve Managed Trust Through the Responsible Administrator
Ask whether encrypted inspection is expected and whether the application has a supported approved configuration. Provide a timestamp, application version, failed feature, and sanitized certificate or proxy evidence. Let the administrator confirm the intended authority and configuration.
Microsoft’s proxy settings guide distinguishes configuration sources and VPN-specific proxy arrangements. A browser loading normally cannot prove that every client follows an identical path. Do not guess a proxy server, remove mandatory controls, or import a certificate supplied by a stranger.
Confirm the Repair Through the Original Action
After a supported configuration correction, repeat the same read-only request. Record whether it succeeds or changes to a different error. A newly visible service response is new evidence; do not keep applying issuer fixes blindly if the failure has moved elsewhere.
Maintain the official host release through Ledger’s download route. Do not use environment variables or startup options that disable certificate validation. Unknown packages marketed as certificate-fixed clients introduce another authenticity problem.
Does the Hardware Genuine Check Repair TLS?
No. Device authenticity and the host’s secure network connection address different boundaries. An online trust failure can prevent checking, but passing one check cannot override rejection at the other.
Should I Change Networks During a Device Update?
Preserve the host and connection of an advancing Ledger OS installation. Ordinary comparison tests belong after supported completion or within the exact failed-state recovery procedure.
What Must Stay Out of Diagnostic Logs?
Recovery words, PINs, private keys, active linking invitations, and unrelated financial details are unnecessary. Report the request, environment, and observed trust error instead.
