Preserve the Task Before Repairing the Connection
If Ledger Live Bluetooth disconnects when your iPhone screen locks, first identify what was unfinished. Ledger Wallet is the current app name. A discarded draft, an approved transaction and an active Ledger OS installation require different handling when the interface returns.
For an approved payment, check the transaction hash or provider order before preparing another. For a progressing device OS installation, keep its supported session stable. Do not intentionally repeat screen locking to diagnose a connection while firmware is advancing.
Distinguish Three Locks
| Lock | What it controls |
|---|---|
| iPhone screen lock | Access to the phone session. |
| Wallet app privacy lock | Access to the local interface where configured. |
| Ledger hardware lock | Use of the physical signer until unlocked there. |
Face ID opening the app does not demonstrate that the Ledger is unlocked or connected. Read both screens after returning. Enter the hardware PIN only through the Ledger’s controls, never as a response to an unexplained phone dialog.
Judge Reconnection by an Actual Device Response
During ordinary idle use, unlock the phone, return to the intended app action and inspect the hardware state. If the saved association reconnects and the relevant nonfinancial action completes, record that outcome rather than deleting pairing every time the screen rests.
Apple’s Bluetooth access explanation addresses app authorization. It does not promise that every wallet operation maintains an unlimited background connection. A permission remaining enabled and a foreground session needing reconnection can coexist.
If Unlocking Does Not Restore the Session
Check power, the Ledger’s own radio and lock state, distance and another phone’s active connection. Determine whether the app now finds no device, finds it but times out or reaches a hardware prompt. Keep that first failed step in the report.
Use Ledger’s pairing guidance if an existing relationship remains unusable after those checks. Pairing cleanup is scoped to the app, phone and model-specific hardware association. It does not require a factory reset or removal of all local account information.
For a new exchange, verify the matching code on both devices before confirmation. An earlier successful pairing does not justify accepting an unexpected or inconsistent request after a disconnect.
Choose a Useful Future Workflow
Keep the app visible while reviewing a device-dependent operation. Allow enough uninterrupted time to read both displays and finish the requested confirmations. Do not permanently remove phone login protection as a general Bluetooth remedy.
If an idle comparison is useful, record one session while the phone remains awake and one after its normal lock event. Note whether the Ledger also locked or powered down. A changed hardware state is another variable, so do not attribute the whole result to iOS background behavior.
For repeated app-only failures, check ordinary updates through the official listing. Preserve the current versions and reproduction before broader maintenance. A supported current app is the baseline, not a guarantee of permanent radio continuity.
Screen-Lock Connection Questions
Should Auto-Lock be disabled permanently?
No general need follows from this symptom. Use task-appropriate foreground operation and normal privacy controls. A temporary operating condition should have a clear purpose and should not become an unexplained permanent security change.
Does a disconnect invalidate my receive address?
A radio session ending does not itself change account keys. Verify the intended network and address through the hardware before using it; the connection event alone cannot establish a different wallet.
What should support receive?
Provide timing, phone and app versions, Ledger model, both lock states and whether reconnection succeeds. Exclude backup words, PINs and unneeded financial screenshots.
