Identify Which Storage the Message Names
If Ledger Live cannot install an app because storage is full, read whether it means device capacity or host disk space. The app is now called Ledger Wallet. A coin-app capacity warning concerns the Ledger’s software area; deleting portfolio accounts or computer downloads cannot enlarge that hardware resource.
Open My Ledger and inspect the device’s current app inventory and capacity information. Package sizes, dependencies, and hardware models differ. A claim that every device holds a fixed number of apps is not a useful way to judge this specific request.
Decide What You Can Temporarily Do Without
Choose an ordinary supported coin app not needed for the current task. Before removal, check its integration and whether it has settings or dependent apps worth noting. Do not assume every non-coin credential or application-specific preference has the same recovery behavior.
Ledger’s insufficient-storage guide describes app rotation. The important distinction is that a coin app enables device operations for a network; the assets themselves remain on the blockchain, with access determined by the existing wallet secrets.
Keep the hardware initialized. A factory reset changes a much broader configuration than a normal app uninstall and is not a capacity-management shortcut. Do not move funds merely to remove an unused ordinary coin app.
Review Base Apps and Dependencies
Some installations require a parent blockchain app. The touchscreen management guide specifically describes removing Bitcoin- or Ethereum-dependent apps before their base apps in that workflow. Follow the current instructions for your exact model and package.
If you remove a base without understanding the dependency relationship, you may create additional installation work. Keep a private note of the apps needed for the intended task. A missing dependent app and a genuinely full device are different next-stage errors.
For example, needing one rarely used supported network app may justify rotating an unused app after checking its availability and consequences. Removing an unrelated account row from the host would only alter the interface and leave the app capacity unchanged.
Avoid Installing More Than the Asset Requires
Confirm the asset’s actual chain and current integration. A token may use the parent network’s app instead of a dedicated device package. A familiar ticker alone does not identify that chain, particularly when similar tokens exist on multiple networks.
Use the official catalog and allow each removal to finish before reassessing available space. Then install the required supported app. Never substitute smaller patched packages, a private firmware file, or an unofficial capacity upgrade.
If a compatibility warning appears after space is available, follow the stated version or dependency requirement separately. Ledger’s app-update explanation describes OS limitations that can affect available app releases. More space cannot resolve every compatibility condition.
Confirm the Result on Hardware
Check that the intended app appears on the device and in the refreshed inventory. Review relevant app settings before the supported account task. If reinstalling an earlier coin app later, use the same correct wallet configuration rather than generating new secrets to recreate its account.
Preserve advancing Ledger OS work before any app rotation or host connection experiment. Firmware installation has its own supported sequence and should not be interrupted to chase a capacity display elsewhere.
Can I Hold More Crypto Than the App Capacity Suggests?
Device app space does not measure the quantity of assets controlled by the wallet. It limits installed software, not the size of blockchain balances.
Should I Use Uninstall All Apps?
That is broader than removing one selected app. Use it only under the exact model’s applicable guidance after understanding what must be reinstalled and configured.
What if Space Still Appears Insufficient?
Record model, free capacity, requested package, and dependencies. Ask official support about that combination rather than erasing hardware or moving assets unnecessarily.
