Do Not Assume Zero Means a Device Write Failed
If a Ledger Live device-app installation remains at zero percent, inspect the hardware and current error before starting another request. The app is now Ledger Wallet. The host may be waiting for unlock, approval, package information, or a prerequisite rather than actively writing an app that has frozen.
Confirm the task first. Installing a coin app and updating Ledger OS are different operations. Preserve any advancing OS installation; do not use ordinary idle-session troubleshooting to interrupt firmware work.
Check Whether Management Is Authorized
Look for a normal hardware lock or expected secure-connection request. Enter the known PIN only on the Ledger and approve only the management action you initiated. An unexplained payment or message signature is not a substitute for installation authorization.
Ledger’s secure-channel documentation separates required user interactions from install progress. A number alone cannot tell you which interaction the workflow is awaiting. Keep both screens available so a missed prompt is visible.
If no device information loads, inspect the supported local transport first. Dedicated desktop management uses USB data, and host permissions or competing sessions may matter. A charging symbol does not establish usable data communication.
Check Explicit Preconditions Before Retrying
A device-storage warning needs a hardware app-capacity remedy. A host disk warning concerns a different resource. Read the message before deleting anything, and use normal scoped app management rather than erasing the wallet.
For an app or dependency update requirement, consult Ledger’s maintenance-order guidance. An old device OS can limit the app releases offered. A faster connection cannot make an incompatible release suitable for that installed OS.
Check the intended chain integration too. Some assets rely on a parent network’s app, and dependencies may require their own supported versions. Avoid installing packages chosen only because their names resemble the asset symbol.
Determine Whether Online Retrieval Is the First Failure
If the host identifies the device and loads inventory, but an install request returns a certificate or service error, preserve that later message. Compare the relevant Ledger status component and an approved alternate network where appropriate.
For example, a catalog that never retrieves its package information has not demonstrated an app-write failure simply because progress remains zero. A trusted connection comparison can help identify a route-specific problem; repeated uninstall/reinstall cycles do not test it.
Keep TLS validation and endpoint protection active. Bring a work-network inspection issue to its administrator instead of importing unknown roots or opening arbitrary firewall rules. Stop rapid repeated requests, especially if the service returns rate limiting.
Establish the Previous Outcome Before Another Install
Once the operation has finished or explicitly failed and ordinary hardware access is available, inspect the actual device app list. Refresh the host inventory through its supported interface. An app already present can explain why the last visible progress screen was misleading.
If absent, address the identified condition and make one supported attempt. A persistent unexplained stall needs official support with the app name, exact stage, model, and versions. Do not load a standalone developer binary or force a maintenance mode as an improvised repair.
Is There a Universal Disconnect Deadline?
No. Use actual progress and the current model procedure. A fixed timeout from another hardware generation cannot determine what this operation is doing safely.
Will Clearing Account History Free Installation Space?
No. Portfolio cache and device-app storage serve different purposes. Removing historical account data does not create hardware app capacity or authorize management.
Should Support Ask for the Recovery Phrase?
No. App installation is diagnosed from state, transport, prerequisites, and errors. Wallet backup words and PIN values stay outside host forms and diagnostic attachments.
