Turn the Working Connection Into a Reference
When Ledger Live works on a hotspot but fails on Wi-Fi, use the working result to design a focused comparison. The current app is Ledger Wallet. A different route can change DNS, proxy behavior, filtering, public addressing, and timing; success alone does not identify which difference mattered.
Keep the same host, software, and requested feature. A phone hotspot loading an existing account and Wi-Fi requesting a provider quote are different tests, even if both occur inside the same wallet window.
Record a Reproducible Pair of Observations
Choose an existing account’s data refresh or another harmless request. Note the network, exact message, and time for each attempt. If the first succeeds and the second fails repeatedly under equivalent conditions, keep that evidence rather than reinstalling immediately.
For example, a personal laptop might resolve an explorer on the hotspot but show a named DNS failure on home Wi-Fi. That is a more useful observation than saying the router dislikes crypto. It suggests examining the resolver path without proving that the hardware is faulty.
Do not move networks during advancing Ledger OS installation. Preserve that supported maintenance session and perform ordinary comparisons later. Network diagnosis should not turn a healthy firmware operation into an interrupted one.
Investigate Broad Wi-Fi Problems First
Check whether the intended network has full internet access and any required sign-in is complete. The Windows connectivity guide distinguishes a connected wireless link from usable internet.
If other devices and services also fail, use the router or internet provider’s supported process. Preserve known configuration and avoid factory-resetting shared equipment as an initial test. If only this application or provider fails, keep the investigation specific.
On an organization network, check permitted use with its owner before testing alternatives. A hotspot is a changed route, not automatic authorization to sidestep access policy or regional service rules.
Let the Error Choose the Next Dependency
A failed hostname lookup makes DNS relevant. Apple’s per-network DNS reference identifies the relevant Mac settings. Review existing resolver values and how they were supplied before making a justified correction. Managed resolver configuration belongs with the administrator.
A TLS chain error makes trust or inspection relevant instead. Read Ledger’s issuer-certificate explanation and preserve normal certificate checks. Hotspot success does not make an unrecognized inspection certificate on Wi-Fi trustworthy.
An HTTP status such as 429 or 503 means a responder returned a different kind of result. Retain the code and operation. Do not change DNS merely because a working responder says it is rate-limiting requests or temporarily unavailable.
Check Timing Before Declaring a Network Cause
A remote service can recover between attempts. Match relevant Ledger incident updates to the observed times, and inspect an optional provider’s official information when that alone is affected. A modest repeated comparison can distinguish a persistent route difference from coincident recovery.
After a supported network correction, repeat the original request. If it works, retain the resolved condition. If the symptom changes, investigate the new error rather than resetting accounts to force the original diagnosis to fit.
Can I Continue on the Hotspot?
Use a trusted permitted connection with normal client validation. Consider stability and data allowance before starting an operation that needs sustained access, especially device maintenance.
Does This Prove the Installed App Is Corrupted?
No. Reproducible success with the same installation makes a route-dependent condition worth investigating first. Deleting local data would remove useful organization without testing that difference.
What if a Payment Error Disappears on the Hotspot?
Check the original action’s chain or provider status before repeating approval. A changed route cannot undo an action that was already submitted.
