Determine Whether Time Is Actually Wrong
If Ledger Live reports a certificate error and the host clock is inaccurate, correct the real time before repeating the request. The application is currently Ledger Wallet. Do not alter a correct clock simply to make an expired or not-yet-valid certificate stop failing.
Check the host that produced the error. A problem on the phone is not repaired by adjusting the desktop. Preserve the full certificate wording because an issuer-chain problem and a validity-date problem describe different failed checks.
Compare the Whole Date, Not Only the Hour
Inspect year, month, day, time, and zone. A laptop can display the expected hour while still being a day or several years wrong. A reassuring time-zone label also does not prove that the underlying instant is accurate.
For example, a machine returned from long storage might show its original setup date. That discrepancy makes certificate-date checks unreliable. A current machine reporting an unknown issuer despite accurate time requires a different trust investigation.
Use a reliable current reference and the platform’s supported synchronization process. If a managed host intentionally restricts these settings, ask its administrator. Avoid installing an unknown clock-fixing tool or changing organization policy yourself.
Restore Supported Automatic Synchronization
Microsoft’s date and time guide covers automatic time and zone controls. Apple’s Mac time reference describes automatic date/time and the network time-server arrangement. Follow the actual host’s current options.
If synchronization fails, retain that result for host support rather than choosing arbitrary certificate-friendly dates. A clock that resets after shutdown may indicate a broader system-maintenance issue. The wallet application is not the authoritative place to repair the computer’s timekeeping.
Complete any required recognized network sign-in before expecting online time services to work. Do not put wallet secrets into an unexpected portal or accept a new root certificate as part of clock setup.
Repeat the Original Request With a Fresh Observation
After time is accurate, repeat the same harmless task. If appropriate and no hardware maintenance is active, reopen the app to establish a fresh request. Record whether the message clears, remains identical, or changes category.
Keep power and host connection stable during a progressing Ledger OS installation. Do not turn an ordinary clock comparison into a device-update interruption. Follow model-specific recovery if firmware has already reached an explicit failed state.
If a date-related error disappears, verify that the intended feature now responds. If an issuer error remains, time correction did not establish a trusted chain. Certificate verification documentation treats trust and validity as separate conditions.
Investigate the Remaining Certificate Condition
For an accurately timed host still reporting an expired remote certificate, preserve the endpoint and contact official support or the responsible provider. For an issuer failure, examine proxy or inspection context using Ledger’s specific error guidance.
Do not suppress TLS checks, accept a hostname mismatch, or trust an unknown authority because the clock has been repaired. A supported connection must satisfy the relevant checks together. Reinstalling portfolio data cannot renew a remote certificate.
Does Changing Local Time Move Funds?
It does not rewrite confirmed blockchain history or transfer assets. If the network error followed a signed action, inspect that action’s actual outcome before another approval.
Can Backdating Be a Temporary Fix?
Use real time. Backdating hides a meaningful validity failure and can disturb other services. It does not establish that the intended server is trustworthy.
Which Before-and-After Details Matter?
Record the real clock discrepancy, error category, host and app versions, failed feature, and result after synchronization. Exclude recovery backups, PIN values, and unnecessary financial screenshots.
