Confirm Which Component Was Updated
If Nano X Bluetooth is not found after a Ledger Live firmware update, record what actually changed. Ledger Wallet is the current companion-app name, while Ledger OS runs on the hardware. Replacing the phone or desktop app does not by itself establish that Nano X received a new operating system.
Keep the old and current component information when available. A vague note saying everything updated is less useful than the hardware’s actual state and the specific operation that completed.
Separate Completion From a Failed Update State
Check the Ledger screen before restarting it or clearing pairings. Advancing installation should keep its required connection. A device still displaying Update or Bootloader after a failure needs the exact Nano X continuation guide, not repeated ordinary discovery attempts.
Ledger’s update-state troubleshooting addresses that separate maintenance situation. Do not use a factory reset or host-side phrase entry to make an unfinished installation resemble a normal Bluetooth setup.
Use the Documented Post-Update Restart Point
Once the device update has properly completed, consult current Bluetooth recovery guidance. Ledger describes restarting after relevant OS maintenance before re-pairing. Apply that instruction after completion, never as permission to interrupt progressing installation.
Power Nano X on, unlock it and inspect Bluetooth using its Control Center. Prepare one nearby phone session with the genuine app and relevant permission. End another phone’s ordinary active connection so the new scan has an identifiable target.
Do Not Overlook the Device Because Its Label Changed
Compare scan results with the prepared physical Ledger. A current label can be abbreviated or customized instead of matching a historical screenshot. That can explain a device being overlooked, but it does not authenticate an unknown result.
If a new pairing exchange appears, compare all code digits on both displays. Cancel mismatch or an unsolicited request. If the existing association reconnects successfully without a new code, judge its live device action rather than demanding a first-time setup screen.
Diagnose What Remains After Normal Startup
- No discovery result: record power, radio, permission and selected host.
- Discovery works but pairing fails: record the code or confirmation stage.
- Pairing works but management fails: preserve the later session error.
- Hardware works but history is stale: investigate account data separately.
Use coordinated Nano X pairing cleanup only for an indicated association problem. Read Reset pairings carefully and keep the initialized wallet unchanged. Reinstalling the same Ledger OS repeatedly is not a general Bluetooth troubleshooting method.
The current Nano X specifications are the model reference for supported maintenance conditions. Do not infer every update route from the fact that ordinary transactions can use Bluetooth.
If a host update was mistaken for a hardware update, correct the record before following post-firmware advice. The actual Nano X OS state still determines its maintenance context. A renamed desktop icon or newer phone-app number is not evidence that the device completed installation.
Post-Update Bluetooth Questions
Does a desktop USB connection prove Bluetooth survived?
It establishes a result on another transport. It can be useful evidence about the device’s normal operation, but phone permission, discovery and association still need their own observations.
Should I delete phone account data after firmware maintenance?
Not merely because discovery fails. That data is separate from radio readiness, and deletion can discard useful labels and records without addressing the connection stage.
What belongs in a support report?
Include the completed update type, installed component versions, hardware screen and first failed Bluetooth step. Keep the recovery backup and PIN offline; they cannot diagnose a missing scan result.
