  • Ledger Live App Install Interrupted by Lock: Verify Before Resuming

Check Whether the Request Ended Before Repeating It

If a Ledger locks while Ledger Live installs a device app, inspect the ordinary lock screen, host status, and resulting inventory before pressing Install again. The current application is Ledger Wallet. A missed success message, a waiting approval, and an unfinished write require different responses.

First distinguish app management from Ledger OS maintenance. Leave a progressing OS installation powered and connected. A normal unlock instruction for an idle management session is not permission to interrupt advancing firmware.

Unlock the Hardware Through Its Normal Controls

If the device is on its usual PIN entry screen, enter the known correct PIN there. Do not provide it to the host application, a website, or support. Repeated guesses can activate device protection, so uncertainty about the PIN should stop guessing rather than accelerate it.

After unlocking, inspect what the management flow requests. The dashboard, a blockchain app, and settings are separate locations. Ledger’s Nano menu reference explains their navigation; touchscreen hardware needs its own matching controls.

A request to approve a secure management connection can be appropriate to a session you initiated. A payment or unfamiliar contract signature is a different request and should not be accepted as a way to resume installation.

Compare the Hardware List With My Ledger

Once the previous operation is over and normal device access is available, look for the intended app on the physical device. Refresh My Ledger’s inventory through the supported interface. The host’s last percentage alone may not reflect a completion that occurred before communication ended.

Suppose a Litecoin installation was followed by locking. If Litecoin now appears on the Ledger and its current inventory agrees, verify the intended supported account task rather than queuing another install. If absent, preserve the actual error and resume only after its stated condition is addressed.

Ledger’s management reference separates user interactions from installation progress. Use both observations. An unlock prompt can explain a waiting session without establishing that the installed app is damaged.

Investigate Repeated Locking as a Pattern

Record whether the lock happens before work begins, during an idle pause, after a connection drop, or while a request appears active. Include the model, device OS, host version, and power arrangement. Review documented auto-lock settings only when their timing is relevant.

Do not permanently weaken protection merely to keep an install page visible. Keep authorized maintenance attended and respond to expected prompts. If unexpected locking continues during active work, stop repeating installations and ask official support about the recorded sequence.

If the next message names device storage, freeing phone photos is unrelated. If it names app compatibility, use Ledger’s required-update guidance. Unlocking again cannot increase device capacity or make unsupported code compatible.

Resume One Intended Operation

With idle hardware, a supported data path, and no competing wallet session, retry only the requested app action after the identified problem is corrected. Desktop management uses USB, while mobile support depends on the hardware and platform.

Check the resulting device list and intended account operation afterward. App software and blockchain assets have different roles; an ordinary lock does not itself transfer funds or change wallet ownership.

Does a Lock Screen Mean the Wallet Was Erased?

No. Ordinary PIN locking differs from initial setup or recovery. Unexpected setup wording requires its own state assessment rather than treating it as another unlock.

Should I Reinstall Every Coin App?

Inspect the actual inventory first. Repeating unrelated installations creates more changes without identifying why one management session locked or lost communication.

What Can I Share With Support?

Provide timings, screens, app name, model, versions, and before-and-after inventory. Never attach PIN values, recovery-sheet photos, or private keys.
